Hello! Thanks to everyone for making the 30th Reunion so great! I loved seeing all of you, and thank goodness, we haven't aged one bit (oh, well maybe, but who cares)l!!! Bob deserves a huge thanks for getting this whole thing started and working hard to make it happen. Also, a huge thanks to Mike Herlihy (III) for takiing pictures from the Friday nite party (thank you, Cullen's!)...we will post those soon! Thanks to Phil Meador for late hours working on the dvd...it turned out fabulously! When it is all said and done, we had nearly 120 classmates and guests - what a great group! We have about 8 rolls of film to develop, so look forward to more pictures! Love you all, Joyce |

For those of you who came to the reunion party, what a great time I had, and I hope you all did too. For those of you who didn't, hope to see you next time, you missed a really good party. The food was good; the band was fantastic, (yeah, I know, at times they were too loud. blah, blah, blah.) And the company was outstanding. I can't begin to express how nice it was to see all of you again. We started the weekend off with a tour of the school and the football game Friday night followed by an evening at Ballydoye, a pub located in downtown Downers Grove. It was kind of a pre reunion party if you will, and the turn out was great. It gave a chance for a lot of classmates who couldn't join us Saturday night have a casual get together over a few pints and reconnect with some very dear young friends. I am hoping someone will send pictures to me from Friday night so I can add them to the web site. I have started adding pictures from Saturday night for everyone to check out. That way those of you who were there can remember what happened. The pictures speak for themselves! And those who couldn’t be there take a look and see some of your friends from good old Downers Grove South! Bob |

Not sure if anyone remembers me but I'm featured prominently in Paul's video - thanks Paul I'm glad my kids are grown - is there a statute of limitations on being seen taking a hit? |

| Wow, Paul, what a trip it is to see that video. Makes me wonder what else you have archived away in some dark cellar. Either way, it's probably a good thing I never got into politics. Whew! Thanks so much for posting that. Hey, do you still have footage from our motorcycle trip we took that summer? | |||

Goodness y'all, I keep seeing names from the past that spark.... no, send the inferno rushing in of memories past. I couldn't for the life of me remember the guy I went out with briefly in 7th grade, and now I know! |

Paul, That is the way I remember it. We could both run pretty fast backwards. We didn't know where we going anyway, so why not see where we'd been. Phil, Some of my friends made me smoke the week before senior year started at Piss Rock, out in that field at what is now Woodward Ave. It went through from 83rd to Boughton Rd. Funny looking cigarette though. No filter and all twisted. Any girls from O'Neill remember playing strip spin the bottle with Eric Walters and myself the summer between 7th and 8th grade, or would you rather forget. I don't blame you. Thank goodness I only had to take off a shoe. Eric was down to his underware. If Eric and I had a cool factor going for us at all that summer, I'm sure it dipped well below 50%. We were the definiton of the word nerd. My two girls aren't going to get away with anything. At least that's what I keep telling myself. HA! |

| Phil, Bob Kavalle was the only person (who I can recall) who could run faster than me. I don't like to brag (unless prompted), but I was pretty darn fast in 8th grade and high school. In gym class, Bob and I would run backwards to make things more even. Isn't that you remember it Bob? | |||

Phil, I forgive you. Actually, I forgot about that till I read it on your entry. I hope I wasn't a dick about it back then. Most likely I was though, You know it was all about me back then. Really, when you think about it, it still is all about me. And while I'm thinking of it, why did you drop that @#$%ing baton? You cost me......I mean us a medal! What about Bob? |

Way to go Paul, it's a weeper keeper. And Paul, Bob and I ran together in the 440 relay and I dropped the baton. I don't think he's ever forgiven me. For those of you keeping score at home I'm kidding Bob and he knows it ... and Sue Bulut and I went steady in the 6th grade! Oh, and I play guitar. Wait ... no I don't. Hmmm, not sure what I was thinking there. |

| Hey! I am looking forward to seeing some of my old schoolmates. I took a 3 minute super8 film on the last day of school out in the smoking area. Today, with all the video cameras, that might not seem to special, but back in 1978 it was unusual. I am glad that I did it. You can watch it here: http://www.spacetimeprojects.com/dgsouth/lastday1978.html Hey Bob, why didn't you invite Phil Royer? | |||

Hey Bob and classmates, I see some familiar and some not so familiar names here. Thanks for sending this to my mailbox, Bob. Oh how I would love to be there. I even have some family in the area still, although I am no longer in the area and haven't been since after my freshman year. My kids are in school and my husband travels a little bit so I know I won't be able to make it up there in September. You all will probably laugh knowing I took my 13 year old daughter all around my old neighborhood and 3 schools and showed her how I walked to O'Neill Jr. High, in the freezing cold, uphill, both ways! lol It was so nostalgic for me and a lot of fun showing her my old stomping grounds. I hope you all have a blast!! I look forward to seeing some of the pictures. I'm sure you all look so different from 1975 when I moved away. Anyone who remembers me and wants to drop a line, my e-mail is WreckedGrl@aol.com. I would love to reminisce about the simpler times in life when I had a Panasonic AM/FM radio on a chain and a cool Oscar Mayer weiner whistle!! Now we're drowning in a sea of techno sheep. lol So, lemme know how y'all are doing... I hope I remember you too. :)~~ |

| Hi Class of '78 -- I just can't believe it's been 30 years! What great memories of the old high school days....I've been living in the Bay Area (N.CA) for the past 28 years, and love it here! I've been married to a great guy for 16 years, and am currently taking a break from the high-tech industry, and am enjoying some free time. So sorry I won't be able to attend the upcoming reunion, as we'll be on vacation that week. It was great to see everyone at the 10th, and hopefully I'll be able to make the next one. Nancy Klontz, how great to see your name here!! We missed each other at the 10 Yr. Reunion and I've thought about you often. Heard you were doing well from Nancy Marks and Judy S. when I saw them 20 yrs. ago. Will send you an email as I'd love to hear how you've been! Has anyone heard from Maryann Scigouski, Sue Asbell, Sharon Fitzgerald, Tammy Suchan, Mary Powers, Dianne Dellamorte? There are so many people I would love to see again....Hi to you too, Bob Kavalle! Hope everyone has a great time on the 6th! --Sue-- | |||

Hey it's been a while. Been busy. Went into the navy, got married to Cynthia Ganno in '79, had a son Joshua. Got divorced, remarried, had another son, Seth. Got outta the service and worked for College of DuPage and started a piano refinishing and rebuilding business. Got sick from the chemicals (always wear protective gear) closed the doors and moved to Massachusetts. Worked at a National Sign Company, building and designing signs and company logos. Got involved with computers and started a Macintosh only service business. This led into the newspaper where I was production manager. When the paper folded I started taking care of properties and have been at it since. Resently worked with James Taylors road crew. Joshua has a girl and a boy. Seth has a boy. |

| Wow! How could it be, 20 years since we all graduated and none of us look any older, lol. I hope all is well with everyone. I made it to the 10 year Reunion but never heard about any others. I doubt that at this late date I will make it there this year but I send all my best to my old friends from high school. I moved after 26 years in San Francisco and am currently in Atlanta. Still creating art and working in advertising and design. Feel free to contact me...would love to reconnect. | |||

Hey there! I was surprised to find there was a 20th and 25th! Last I remember was a 10th with all that great 80's big hair! I'm sure there is a little less hair now. Although we've all gone our separate ways for years, it will be fun to catch up. I checked my info and strange, out of a class of 750, I only knew how to find 2 or 3 people. |

| I'm not coming because I wasn't invited and my feelings are really hurt, Bob. I've got a relay baton with your name on it and I'm going to hunt you down 110 meters at a time. I'll stop, catch my breath, have a beer, and wonder if my quest would be more successful measured in yards. Maybe then I'll discover the true meaning of love, responsibility and courage. Thanks to you, Bob. | |||

I rarely make it back to Chicagoland. I am soooooo looking forward to the reunion. The main person I want to see is KAVALLE!!!!! I am assuming it will be Homecoming at DGS? I would love to see a football game and the Fillies! Is the "Hungry Bear" still there? What about The "TIVOLI " theatre? Is "FEEBS" still open? Has Ogden Avenue been widened from four lanes? Does Barnaby's Pizza still exist? Is Yorktown still the hot mall? Is there still a Sambo's? Is Madigans still in business? The Cubs will be in town against St Louis!! Looks like a great weekend! |
